Report: Samsung Electronics Sets 2027 Goals for Its Wafer Toll Processing Business: Return to Profitability and Achieve 20% Market Share

Published: Nov 12, 2025 09:33
Samsung Electronics has set a 2027 management target for its wafer foundry division, aiming to return to profitability and achieve a 20% market share by sales by the following year. Samsung's wafer foundry business has been operating at a loss since 2022 due to a lack of external advanced-period contracts, with industry insiders estimating quarterly losses in the range of 1–2 trillion won. However, with Tesla placing large advanced-process orders and the Taylor, Texas wafer fab expected to begin contributing revenue, Samsung's overall foundry condition is anticipated to improve, which forms the basis for setting this target.
