On November 10, 2025, the sulfide solid-state battery project (Phase I, first stage: 0.5 GWh) of Sichuan Sak Power commenced production. The total investment for this project is 3 billion yuan, with a planned capacity of 4 GWh. This project is the first dedicated production site for aviation power batteries in south-west China. On July 15, 2025, the first batch of production equipment for the Sak Power project was successfully delivered to the site, with subsequent batches arriving and undergoing installation and debugging in August and September, aiming for completion and handover by mid-September. It was originally scheduled for official production in October 2025. Additionally, it will be complemented by a 100 MWh automated small-scale pilot line for sulfide all-solid-state batteries. The Yibin layout comprises three components: first, a 0.5 GWh mass production line targeting the low-altitude economy; second, a sulfide electrolyte production facility for all-solid-state batteries, expected to be put into use before the end of 2025; and third, a sulfide all-solid-state battery facility, for which a 30 MWh small-scale pilot line has already been constructed and put into operation.
Remarks from Leadership
1. Dr. Zhu Gaolong, Chairman of Sak Power
The commencement of production for the first phase of high-safety batteries marks a leap from "0 to 1" for the company's solid-state battery project and is a critical step towards becoming a global leader in sulfide all-solid-state batteries. This project achieves engineering implementation based on intrinsically safe electrolyte in-situ polymerization technology, capable of providing high-safety battery products with an energy density of up to 360 Wh/kg, balancing high specific energy and high safety. Through automated intelligent equipment control and stringent quality monitoring ensuring an ultra-high yield rate, this production commencement is not only a milestone for the industrialisation of high-safety batteries but also lays a solid foundation for the subsequent mass production of sulfide all-solid-state batteries.
2. Shi Jin, Secretary of the Cuiping District Committee
Since the solid-state battery project was signed in November 2024 and commenced construction in February 2025, there has been close cooperation between the government and the enterprise. Its smooth commencement of production has become a benchmark for the upgrading of the city's power battery industry.
3. Zeng Lingju, Deputy Secretary of the Yibin Municipal Committee and Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Yibin High-tech Zone
Solid-state batteries, with their advantages of high safety and high energy density, are regarded as the next generation of battery technology. Sak Power, as a key enterprise incubated by the Academician Ouyang Minggao Workstation, possesses a series of key solid-state battery technologies, achieving an energy density of 360 Wh/kg, and represents a significant industrialisation achievement of the 2025 World Power Battery Conference.
4. Ouyang Minggao, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor at Tsinghua University
As a frontier area of the new generation of batteries, China must firmly grasp the initiative in the development of solid-state batteries, establish mainstream technical routes, and continuously make breakthroughs in the intelligence of battery manufacturing and full-chain collaboration. The high-safety battery production line commenced by Sak Power is the starting point towards the industrialisation of all-solid-state batteries. Based on this production line, the team will research and solve key technical problems in solid-state battery manufacturing, utilizing large AI models for design, to lay the foundation for developing 400 Wh/kg sulfide all-solid-state batteries for cars. Simultaneously, our team will also accelerate breakthroughs in core areas such as key materials for solid-state batteries in Yibin, fully promoting the industrialisation process of all-solid-state batteries to maintain China's leading advantage in the global battery industry and help Yibin consolidate its leading position in the global power battery field.
