【SMM Steel】ArcelorMittal set a clear precondition for advancing European decarbonization projects in its November 6 quarterly report: guaranteed access to affordable energy. While welcoming EU plans to strengthen steel trade protections, the company remains cautious about restarting suspended decarbonization projects in Germany, France and Belgium. These projects will be evaluated individually and implemented progressively even with potential strong market recovery by 2026. Current progress is limited to Spain where its electric arc furnace steelmaking projects continue as scheduled. ArcelorMittal emphasized competitive energy access will be the decisive factor in prioritizing future European investments.
