Shanghai (Gasgoo)- A major shipment of firefly vehicles, the first model under NIO Inc's small smart high-end electric car brand FIREFLY, recently set sail from Shanghai's Waigaoqiao Port bound for Europe, signaling a new phase in the automaker's accelerating global expansion.
Deliveries of firefly vehicles in Europe began on August 14, 2025, with customers in Norway and the Netherlands among the first to receive their vehicles. Remarkably, less than four months passed between the model's China launch on April 19 and its first European handover—marking the fastest overseas rollout in NIO's history.
Propelled by NIO's national general distributor model, the FIREFLY is expanding its footprint across Europe, North America, and Asia. Deliveries are already underway in the Netherlands, Norway, Belgium, and Denmark, with order openings in Austria, Greece, and Portugal set to follow.
Earlier, the firefly model made a notable appearance at the IAA MOBILITY 2025 and was specially invited to showcase its crash-test model at the NCAP25 World Congress, where it drew significant attention for its robust safety engineering. Under NIO's dual-track "general distributor + direct operation" strategy, the Firefly is taking China's smart EV innovations to the global stage—offering drivers worldwide a fresh blend of intelligent design, safety, and premium electric mobility.
