On October 30, with the successful pouring of the first batch of concrete for the pile foundation in the decomposition and grading area, the Guinea Alumina Project (Phase II) of the State Power Investment Corporation (hereinafter referred to as the "Guinea Alumina Project") officially commenced construction. The Guinea Alumina Project is a concrete action to implement the important consensus reached at the meeting between the two heads of state during the 2024 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. The project plans to construct an alumina plant with an annual production capacity of 1.2 million tons and its supporting ancillary facilities, scheduled to be completed and put into operation in 2028. As the first alumina plant built in Guinea since its independence, the project, upon completion, will help Guinea transform its resource advantages into development advantages, promote new steps in industrialization, and play a positive role in job creation and talent cultivation, becoming a new model of China-Guinea economic and trade cooperation and injecting new and strong impetus into China-Africa cooperation.
