Anglo American reported increased copper production of 183,500 tonnes for the September quarter, a 1% year-on-year rise, while overall iron ore production decreased by 9% to 14.3 million tonnes. The company has raised full-year production guidance for its Minas-Rio iron ore mine in Brazil to 23-25 million tonnes. Steelmaking coal production decreased by 54% to 1.9 million tonnes, while diamond output increased by 38% to 7.7 million carats and nickel production rose by 2% to 10,100 tonnes. The company is progressing with portfolio changes, including the divestment of its Valterra Platinum interest and ongoing processes for its nickel and steelmaking coal businesses.
