Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On October 29, 2025, BYD made a strong statement at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, unveiling the K-EV BYD RACCO — a fully electric mini car designed specifically for the Japanese market. The company also launched a dual-track "EV + PHEV" strategy, debuting its first plug-in hybrid SUV for Japan, the Sealion 06 DM-i.
Under the theme "ONE BYD," the automaker presented both passenger and commercial vehicle exhibits. The twin display underscores BYD's plan to establish a comprehensive new energy lineup in Japan—combining PHEV and BEV offerings—and to build an integrated ecosystem that strengthens its presence across both passenger and commercial markets.
At the passenger vehicle booth, BYD showcased an array of popular battery-electric models including the updated Yuan PLUS, Dolphin, and Seal, alongside the newly introduced RACCO and Sealion 06 DM-i. The event also featured the U9 supercar from BYD's luxury sub-brand YANGWANG, highlighting the company's technological range from affordable urban EVs to high-performance vehicles.
Since entering Japan's passenger vehicle market in July 2022, BYD has rolled out several well-received BEVs including the Yuan PLUS, Dolphin, Seal, and Sealion 07. With the addition of the RACCO and Sealion 06 DM-i, BYD's Japanese lineup has become even more diverse. The company aims to offer seven to eight BEV and PHEV models by 2027. It currently operates 66 retail locations across Japan, with its dealership network continuing to expand steadily.
In the commercial vehicle segment, BYD introduced the pure-electric truck, the T35, along with the J6 "Living Car" mini electric bus concept. The company also displayed its existing mid-sized electric bus J7 and large all-electric bus K8, reinforcing its strength in the commercial EV field.
The T35 is scheduled to go on sale in Japan in 2026. Tailored to local regulations and dimensions, it is powered by BYD's signature Blade Battery, offering stable range performance and strong practicality. Notably, the T35 will hit the market of the Chinese Mainland on November 13 this year.
