Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On October 28, northwest China's first low-altitude self-driving tourism route was officially unveiled in Dunhuang, Gansu Province. The local government of Dunhuang and AIDGE, a low-altitude mobility solution provider and flying car company affiliated to XPENG, jointly launched the new route and signed a strategic partnership agreement.

The two sides will collaborate on building a network of flight camps and developing integrated land-air self-driving tour routes, aiming to boost the city's emerging low-altitude economy.

During the launch event, an AIDGE pilot conducted the first demonstration flight in the region using the company's "Land Aircraft Carrier" modular flying car.

Designed specifically for flying cars and next-generation aerial vehicles, the new low-altitude self-driving tour route redefines the travel experience in northwest China. It offers an aerial perspective of Dunhuang's vast deserts, ancient trade routes, and cultural landmarks, blending natural grandeur with technological innovation. The immersive journey—described by local officials as "one route, many experiences; one flight, multiple sensations"—aims to leave visitors with a lasting "memory of Dunhuang." The project integrates both "aerial corridors" and ground-based experiences to create a multi-dimensional tourism network.

To support the route's operation, five dedicated flight camps will be constructed along key sites in Dunhuang. The first batch is scheduled for completion and trial operation by July 2026. Each camp will serve as both a takeoff and landing hub and an experience center for aerial tourists. Over time, the model is expected to expand across the entire Hexi Corridor, unlocking the vast economic potential of China's low-altitude tourism sector and enhancing the visitor experience.

Dunhuang's wealth of cultural and natural resources makes it one of China's most sought-after travel destinations. The city is home to iconic landmarks such as the Mogao Caves, Yangguan and Yumenguan Passes, and remnants of the Han Great Wall—all set amid dramatic desert and Yadan landforms. With the integration of "low-altitude + tourism" and "low-altitude + culture" applications, visitors can now explore Dunhuang's 2,000-year history from an entirely new, sky-high perspective.

At the event, AIDG signed a memorandum of cooperation with several local and aviation partners—including Hangzhou Gaozhi General Aviation, Gansu Wanhua Enterprise Group Co., Ltd., Dunhuang Cultural & Tourism Group, Dunhuang Feitian General Aviation, and Dunhuang Airport Economic Development Co., Ltd.—to jointly develop flight camps and related infrastructure. The agreements also included a pre-sale order for 200 units of AIDGE's "Land Aircraft Carrier" modular flying car, highlighting growing interest in commercializing low-altitude mobility solutions for tourism.

AIDGE's "Land Aircraft Carrier" is scheduled for market launch and delivery in 2026. Once in service, tourists will be able to "drive, fly, and explore" Dunhuang from both the ground and the sky, ushering in a new era of integrated air-land adventure travel.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
