Horizon Robotics recently announced a deepened collaboration with global automotive supplier ZF to launch the coPILOT driver-assistance system

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Horizon Robotics recently announced a deepened collaboration with global automotive supplier ZF with the coPILOT driver-assistance system launched, capable of supporting city-level Navigate on Autopilot (NOA), for the Chinese market, according to a press release Horizon Robotics issued today. The system has already been designated for use by a major domestic automaker and is scheduled to enter mass production in 2026.

The coPILOT system is powered by ZF's in-house developed "ProAI" computing platform, which integrates Horizon Robotics' flagship Journey® 6P processor—an advanced chip designed specifically for urban driving assistance. Offering up to 560 trillion operations per second (TOPS) of computing power and multi-core heterogeneous architecture, the Journey 6P enables the efficient deployment of large-scale autonomous driving models such as end-to-end, Vision-Language-Action (VLA), and Vision-Language-Model (VLM) frameworks.

Through the scalable computing capabilities of the Journey 6P, the coPILOT system can achieve an industry-leading peak performance exceeding 1,000 TOPS. This powerful architecture supports an integrated suite of advanced driver-assistance features, spanning highway and urban scenarios, automated parking, and seamless vehicle-to-vehicle navigation.

Horizon describes its Journey 6 family as a scalable portfolio of computing solutions ranging from 18 to 560 TOPS, offering cross-generation compatibility and system-level optimization to meet the diverse demands of mass-produced intelligent driving systems. The integration with ZF’s ProAI platform represents a major milestone in the real-world deployment of the Journey 6 series and highlights Horizon's proven production capability.

As of August 2025, the company's Journey chip family has surpassed 10 million sets in cumulative production. The Journey 6 platform has been adopted by more than 20 automakers—including leading Chinese brands, global OEMs, emerging NEV startups, and joint ventures—and will power over 100 models set for mass production in 2025, including several top-selling vehicles in the market.

The debut of the coPILOT system marks a new phase of strategic collaboration between Horizon Robotics and ZF, moving from partnership to deep technical integration. Working closely with a global Tier-1 supplier like ZF, Horizon Robotics aims to accelerate the innovation and mass adoption of next-generation intelligent driving technologies.

Since the two companies established their strategic alliance, the partnership has yielded tangible results. The ProAI platform used in this system was developed primarily by ZF's China R&D team, leveraging the computing power of Horizon's Journey 6P chip. The platform already supports multiple advanced intelligent driving functions, including ADAS and automated parking capabilities, underscoring the maturity and industrial readiness of the joint solution.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
