Shanghai (Gasgoo)- XPENG Chairman He Xiaopeng announced via Weibo on October 23 that the company's latest model, the XPENG X9 Super REEV (range-extended electric vehicle) will soon make its debut. The vehicle is positioned as a "next-generation REEV model designed for global markets."
He explained that after years of focusing on BEV (battery electric vehicle) technologies, XPENG's decision to develop REEV stems from the varying infrastructure, consumer needs, and regulatory environments across global markets. "Only a strong foundation in electric technology can enable the creation of a truly advanced range-extender system," he said, noting that XPENG's deep expertise in batteries, electric drive systems, and power management underpins its vision for the "next-generation REEV."
The XPENG X9 will be the brand's first REEV model, entering the segment through the large seven-seat family vehicle category. He described this as one of the toughest arenas in the industry, citing the extreme complexity of energy management and system integration.
Equipped with a 63.3 kWh battery and a 60-liter fuel tank, the XPENG X9 Super REEV delivers a combined range of up to 1,602 kilometers, according to official figures. The model has undergone extensive testing in diverse and challenging conditions across multiple countries. XPENG claims it is "the world's longest-range seven-seater."
According to data previously filed with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology ("MIIT"), the X9 REEV measures 5,316 mm in length, 1,988 mm in width, and 1,785 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,160 mm. The vehicle is powered by a lithium iron phosphate battery supplied by CALB and features a drive motor with a rated output of 110 kW and a peak output of 210 kW. The range-extending engine delivers a maximum net power of 110 kW.
