Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On October 14, 2025, Autoliv signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Shanghai with the China Automotive Technology and Research Center ("CATARC"), a leading institution in automotive industry standards, to jointly advance automotive safety standards and innovation in China and around the world, according to a post on Autoliv's WeChat account.

The partnership will combine Autoliv's global leadership in automotive safety with CATARC's comprehensive technical expertise to establish an integrated service framework that aligns domestic and international standards, aiming to enhance safety performance across all vehicles produced in China.

It will encompass areas such as research and development, testing, certification, and standards calibration, offering Chinese automakers technical support in both product innovation and global market expansion.

The collaboration will focus on four key areas: joint research on safety technologies to advance next-generation systems through quality and innovation; testing and certification support to enhance the efficiency and reliability of safety validation; international business development to help Chinese OEMs expand globally with world-class safety assurance; and joint initiatives in public welfare and sustainability to promote safer and more sustainable mobility through advocacy and innovation.

By combining CATARC's expertise in advanced research and Autoliv's global technical leadership, the two sides aim to foster closer integration between industry, academia, and research. The partnership seeks to leverage shared resources and innovation capabilities to push the boundaries of safety technology and establish higher standards across the automotive ecosystem.

Building on a long-standing relationship, this new agreement underscores Autoliv and CATARC's common mission — to make road travel safer and more sustainable for everyone.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
