[SMM Flash News: US Considers Acquiring Stake in Tanbreez Rare Earth Project] Reports indicate that the US government intends to purchase equity in Critical Metals Corp., a move seen as a key part of the Trump administration's strategy to strengthen control over the global supply of critical minerals. Once the relevant agreement is reached, the US will directly control the interests in the Tanbreez project in southern Greenland. This mine is one of the world's largest rare earth deposits. Notably, Critical Metals Corp. has increased its stake in the project from 42% to 92.5%, nearly achieving full ownership. According to estimates by Critical Metals Corp., the Tanbreez deposit contains resources of at least 45 million mt, hosted in extensive eudialyte-bearing rocks, with minimal exploration conducted to date. One-third of these resources are "heavy" rare earths, which are significantly more valuable than the more common "light" rare earths due to their wide applications in clean energy and defense industries. Critical Metals Corp. revealed that the Tanbreez rare earth deposit spans 8 km by 5 km, accounting for only 1% of the 4.7 billion mt of surrounding rock. The company is currently conducting exploration aimed at further expanding the resource base to lay the groundwork for a loan feasibility study.
