Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On October 9, 2025, A.P. Moller–Maersk, the global integrated logistics provider, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with CATL in Hong Kong to deepen collaboration on building a low-carbon global supply chain and strengthening CATL's global logistics management capabilities.

The two companies have maintained a strong working relationship over the past five years, particularly in ocean and multimodal transport. Under the new agreement, Maersk will become CATL's preferred global logistics partner, offering end-to-end supply chain solutions that encompass sea and air freight, project logistics, warehousing, and distribution services.

In response to the increasingly complex global trade landscape, the partners will also explore more resilient and scalable supply chain management models. Maersk plans to tailor logistics solutions for CATL based on the characteristics of regional markets, helping to enhance efficiency and adaptability across the company's international operations.

Leveraging CATL's leadership in advanced battery technology, energy storage systems, and battery recycling, the two companies will jointly promote electrification across key supply chain links. As Maersk's preferred partner in battery innovation, CATL will work with the shipping giant to explore electrification opportunities in Maersk's container fleet, port operations, inland transport, and warehousing—covering power system design, energy management, and recycling solutions.

Morten Bo Christiansen, Maersk's Senior Vice President and Head of Energy Transition, said the partnership marks a new stage in their collaboration. By combining CATL's cutting-edge battery technologies with Maersk's global logistics expertise, the companies aim to redefine what is possible in sustainable logistics—a move that will not only advance Maersk's decarbonization goals but also deliver long-term value to customers and the broader industry.

Tan Libin, CATL's Chief Customer Officer and Co-President of the Market System, said the two companies share a commitment to driving the global energy transition toward a net-zero future. Going forward, the partnership will deepen cooperation across maritime transport, end-to-end logistics, digitalization, and new energy applications, accelerating the decarbonization of the global logistics industry.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
