Beijing (Gasgoo)- Contemporary Amperex Intelligence Technology (Shanghai) Limited ("CAIT-SH"), a subsidiary of CATL specializing in intelligent skateboard chassis technologies, recently completed its first external financing round, raising over 2 billion yuan and reaching a valuation exceeding 10 billion yuan.

The round attracted a strong lineup of investors, including Boyu Capital, Guotai Haitong Securities, BAIC Industrial Investment, Shanghai STVC, Fortera Capital, and others. Proceeds will primarily support mass production of the company's flagship CATL Bedrock Chassis and R&D of next-generation skateboard chassis technologies.

Founded in 2021, CAIT-SH represents CATL's strategic entry into the intelligent chassis sector. Leveraging CATL's core expertise in battery systems, the company is developing its CIIC (CATL Integrated Intelligent Chassis) technology—commonly known as a skateboard chassis—which integrates the battery, electric drive, braking, steering, thermal management, and domain control systems into a single modular platform.

This design decouples the upper and lower vehicle structures, significantly improving interior space utilization and energy efficiency while reducing development costs and lead times by about two-thirds to three-quarters, said the company. The company claims that automakers can develop a new model within 12–18 months.

Since mass production began in 2024, CAIT-SH has established a broad collaboration network spanning passenger vehicles and smart mobility solutions, and is advancing overseas projects in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
