Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On October 9, Shenzhen Hangsheng Electronics Co., Ltd. ("HSAE") and global automotive safety systems supplier Autoliv signed an agreement to establish a joint venture in China. The new company will combine both sides' technical expertise, industrial capabilities, and market resources to focus on research, development, and manufacturing of advanced automotive safety electronics.

The joint venture is expected to be officially launched in the first quarter of 2026, with its headquarters and production base located in China's Yangtze River Delta region—close to both partners' existing facilities. Its core business will center on developing key electronic safety components, including hands-on detection (HOD) systems, pre-pretensioner mechatronic integration (PPMI) units, and other electronic applications for seatbelt systems. The company aims to deliver advanced and high-quality safety solutions to both domestic and international automakers.

The new venture marks a significant step forward in the collaboration between HSAE and Autoliv, following the signing of a strategic memorandum of understanding in 2024. By establishing this joint company, the two partners aim to combine global market reach with the efficiency of China's supply chain, strengthening the synergy between international expertise and local innovation. The collaboration is expected to generate strategic benefits across technology integration, cost optimization, customer service, and market development.

HSAE and Autoliv's partnership has been steadily deepening since early 2024, when the two companies began a series of high-level exchanges and technical discussions. They formalized their collaboration with a strategic framework agreement in April 2024, followed by a memorandum of understanding in June. Their joint appearance at the Auto Shanghai 2025 showcased a range of intelligent cockpit safety technologies, underscoring their shared commitment to innovation in vehicle safety.

By combining their strengths in technology, manufacturing, and market development, HSAE and Autoliv aim to accelerate the commercialization of cutting-edge automotive safety technologies. The joint venture will not only cater to local automakers in China but will also enhance Autoliv's global capacity to deliver advanced safety solutions to car manufacturers worldwide.
