【SMM Express】The average export price of Brazilian slab fell by $15

Published: Oct 6, 2025 16:15

In September, the average export price of Brazilian slab fell by $15 to $455/mt (FOB).

This is a direct consequence of the US imposing a 50% tariff on Brazilian goods on August 7, which covers a variety of Brazilian steel products. Given the high tariff rate, it will be more profitable for US buyers to source slabs from other countries.

Meanwhile, the average price of Japanese slab remained unchanged in September at $460/mt. In contrast, the average FOB offer price for Black Sea slab increased by only $10 last month to $440/mt.
