Brazil's Geological Service partners with CBL to expand lithium exploration

Published: Oct 1, 2025 07:00
Brazil’s Geological Survey (SGB) has signed a technical cooperation agreement with Companhia Brasileira de Lítio (CBL) to jointly advance lithium exploration in the Jequitinhonha Valley, northern Minas Gerais, with the partnership valid until September 2027. The two sides will apply geophysical technologies to detect and model pegmatites and study the petrophysical characteristics of the rocks and their host formations. According to SGB, the collaboration combines CBL’s industrial experience with SGB’s scientific expertise, enabling more precise and extensive studies of pegmatites. This is expected to support the discovery of new resources, optimize exploration models, and promote the sustainable development of Brazil’s mining sector. The agreement does not involve financial transfers between the parties.
