[SMM Aluminum Express] Iran announced the launch of the Parsian Alumina Project in the Parsian Special Economic Zone, valued at $1 billion (approximately 7.3 billion yuan), aimed at enhancing the overall level of Iran's aluminum industry chain. As part of Iran's seventh national development plan, the project is expected to produce 1 million mt of alumina powder annually and will officially commence implementation upon obtaining relevant approvals.
Currently, the Jajarm Plant is Iran's sole alumina producer, with an annual capacity of approximately 240,000 mt. Located in the western part of Hormozgan Province, the Parsian Project is equipped with a dedicated port, providing direct logistics channels for raw material imports and mineral exports.
Officials stated that the new plant's completion will significantly reduce Iran's reliance on imported alumina, effectively expand domestic capacity, and mark a major leap in the development of Iran's aluminum industry. This initiative is expected to further solidify Iran's position as a leading aluminum producer in West Asia.
