Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On September 28, Dongfeng Motor signed a new strategic cooperation agreement with Tencent in Wuhan, marking a deeper commitment to jointly advancing intelligent mobility and digital innovation.
The collaboration will combine Dongfeng Motor's strengths in automotive R&D, manufacturing, and sales with Tencent's expertise in digital platforms and intelligent technologies. Together, the two companies aim to accelerate the implementation of Dongfeng Motor's "One Core, Two Foundations, Two Dimensions" smart vehicle strategy and international expansion plans, creating a new model of synergy between the automotive and internet industries.
This agreement builds on years of collaboration between the two companies. Back in 2019, they signed their first strategic deal in Shenzhen, laying the groundwork for cooperation across seven areas, including connected vehicles, automotive safety, and autonomous driving.
The renewed partnership reflects not only China's broader policy push to upgrade its manufacturing sector toward advanced, intelligent, and sustainable development but also the automotive industry's need to adapt to rapid technological shifts by pooling resources and creating shared value.
Under the terms of the agreement, the two companies will strengthen cooperation in smart technologies, digitalization, and globalization. Their joint initiatives will focus on advancing intelligent driving and next-generation in-car systems, while integrating artificial intelligence with enterprise digital platforms. The ultimate goal is to deliver smarter, more convenient mobility experiences, enhance R&D and operational efficiency, and boost global competitiveness.
Dongfeng Motor Corporation's Chairman Yang Qing said the alliance is aimed at harnessing cutting-edge technologies such as AI large models to refine product definition, improve user experiences, and bring to market breakthrough smart vehicles that could shape future industry trends.
