Neptune Energy Confirms One of the World’s Largest Lithium Resources

Neptune Energy has confirmed lithium resources of 43 million tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE) in the Altmark region of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, making it one of the world’s largest project-based lithium resources. The company has obtained its third exploration license and plans to use Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) technology, an environmentally friendly process that avoids open-pit mining and evaporation ponds. The second pilot project successfully produced battery-grade lithium carbonate, while a third pilot project has now been launched to test an adsorption process. Subject to additional mining permits, Neptune Energy will proceed to a demonstration phase involving a fully integrated extraction plant, marking a step toward commercial production and strengthening lithium supply security for Germany and Europe.
