NEA data: installed wind & solar capacity hits around 1.7 billion kW as of August 31, solar surges 48.5% YoY

On September 26, the National Energy Administration (NEA) released the statistical data on China's national power industry for the January-August period of 2025.

On September 26, the National Energy Administration (NEA) released the statistical data on China's national power industry for the January-August period of 2025.

By the end of August, the country's cumulative installed power generation capacity reached 3.69 billion kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 18.0%. Among this, the installed capacity of solar power stood at 1.12 billion kilowatts, up 48.5% year-on-year; the installed capacity of wind power reached 580 million kilowatts, growing by 22.1% year-on-year.

From January to August, the average cumulative utilization hours of national power generation equipment were 2,105 hours, a decrease of 223 hours compared with the same period last year.
