US rare earth element refiner ReElement Technologies has signed an agreement with South Korea's POSCO International to develop an integrated production site for rare earths and permanent magnets in the US. ReElement stated that the planned integrated facility will be the first fully integrated facility in the US, covering everything from securing rare earth raw materials, separation and refining, to manufacturing permanent magnets and recycling. POSCO International will be responsible for rare earth procurement and magnet production, while ReElement will provide separation, refining, and recycling technologies. POSCO International has signed long-term agreements to supply 7,700 mt of permanent magnets to a North American automaker from 2026 to 2031, and 800 mt of permanent magnets to a European automaker from 2025 to 2034.
