On 24 September the First Department of Equipment Industry at the Ministry of Industry & Information Technology posted for public comment the compulsory national standard “Safety Technical Requirements for Motor-Vehicle Door Handles” and three amendment sheets. The draft states that, in response to new safety risks posed by powered, flush-fitting door handles, every side door (excluding the tailgate) must be fitted with an exterior handle that provides a mechanical release. When the latch is locked, the system must still allow the non-impact-side doors to be opened from the outside without tools after irreversible restraint deployment or a traction-battery thermal event.
