Beijing (Gasgoo)- On Sept. 19, Dongfeng Motor and Huawei officially inaugurated a joint innovation laboratory. The launch marks a major milestone following the two companies' strategic cooperation agreement signed in May and signals a deepening of their collaboration.
The lab will focus on digitalizing and innovating across the entire automotive value chain, aiming to deliver joint solutions that integrate Dongfeng Motor's expertise in vehicle R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, and services with Huawei's strengths in ICT, R&D, and product innovation. Areas of cooperation include in-vehicle software development platforms, intelligent driving assistance, AI-driven applications, and embodied intelligence.
Dongfeng Motor is actively advancing its "One Core, Two Bases, Two Applications" strategy, with the Taiji large AI model as the central engine, supported by the Tianyuan electronic architecture and operating system, and applied in its Tianyuan smart driving and intelligent cockpit systems. This approach is intended to create a highly personalized "third living space" for users, covering R&D, manufacturing, and service ecosystems.
The company has also achieved breakthroughs in embodied intelligence, including deploying the industry's first 16,000-tonne integrated die-casting machine for vehicle bodies and developing the next-generation Mach power system with thermal efficiency of 47.06%, an industry record. These innovations are gradually being implemented in models under its VOYAH and eπ brands.
