Beijing (Gasgoo)- BYD's luxury new energy vehicle brand YANGWANG officially announced the name of the track-focused special edition of its all-electric supercar, which is named the U9 XTREME (U9X). The model is limited to just 30 units worldwide. Each vehicle will be individually customized.

The model follows its August engineering prototype that set a global EV top-speed record, and in September the U9X reset the benchmark with a 496.22 km/h run, surpassing all internal combustion cars to claim the world speed crown. It also recorded a 6:59.157 lap at Germany's Nürburgring Nordschleife.

The U9X sits on the world's first mass-produced 1,200V high-voltage platform and is powered by four 30,000-rpm electric motors delivering over 3,000 Ps, achieving a power-to-weight ratio of 1,217 Ps/t. Leveraging YANGWANG's "e⁴" power system and DiSus-X suspension, the car introduces real-time body attitude control to track scenarios, pushing beyond theoretical performance limits.

Upgrades include a reengineered cooling system with overall cooling capacity increased by 133%, a track-grade Blade Battery with 30C discharge rate and dual-layer cooling, and a titanium alloy–carbon ceramic braking package. The braking system was specially calibrated for the Nürburgring's 177 turns, enabling fade-free performance.

YANGWANG also collaborated with Giti Tire to co-develop the GitiSport e·GTR² PRO semi-slick, reinforced with aramid fibers to withstand speeds over 500 km/h. The tires feature asymmetric tread for cornering grip and wet drainage, and structural reinforcements for stability under extreme G-forces.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
