Beijing (Gasgoo)- On Sept. 20, Chinese autonomous driving company Pony.ai announced its official entry into Singapore through a partnership with ComfortDelGro Corporation, the country's largest transport services provider. The two companies will deploy autonomous vehicles and related mobility services to support daily travel for local residents.
The first phase will launch in Punggol, a residential area in northeast Singapore, pending regulatory approval. This marks Pony.ai's second major collaboration with ComfortDelGro, following their March 2025 deployment of autonomous ride-hailing services in Guangzhou, which has provided both firms with technical, operational, and service experience.
The initiative aligns with Singapore's transportation strategy to integrate autonomous driving into the public mobility system. Authorities aim to use driverless technology to supplement existing taxi, ride-hailing, and metro services, while addressing driver shortages, particularly during nighttime hours.
In June, Singapore's Ministry of Transport announced plans to introduce autonomous vehicles in public housing estates by the end of 2025, with Punggol designated as the pilot zone. The rollout is expected to strengthen public transport connectivity and advance sustainable urban development.
