On September 18, Ivanhoe Mines reported that Stage Two dewatering at the Kakula Mine has commenced on schedule, with three of four high-capacity pumps already operational. The system is designed to achieve a combined pumping rate of up to 6,400 litres per second, lowering underground water levels by roughly one metre per day.

Underground water levels have already fallen by 10 metres, and full Stage Two dewatering is expected by late November 2025. As water levels recede, mine crews are rehabilitating newly accessible areas and preparing to reposition Stage One pumping infrastructure.

Ivanhoe stated that production guidance for 2026 and 2027 will be issued once sufficient dewatering and inspections are complete. Medium-term planning remains in place to restore annual copper production to over 550,000 tonnes, supported by ramp-up activities at both Kakula and Kamoa.
