Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On September 19, vivo has announced a strategic partnership with XPENG to strengthen smartphone–vehicle connectivity, with further details set to be revealed at the upcoming vivo Developer Conference on October 10.

The move highlights vivo's growing push into the automotive space. Its in-car screen-mirroring technology already spans more than one million vehicles across brands such as BYD, Leapmotor, and MG, giving drivers access to their full mobile app ecosystem on vehicle displays.

With the launch of OriginOS 6 system, vivo plans to go further. The system will debut on the all-new XPENG P7 with a voice-controlled feature called "Xiao V." The technology integrates vivo's and XPENG's voice assistants, enabling tasks that cross the smartphone–vehicle boundary. For example, users could remotely prepare their car with a command from home, or while driving, send an address from their phone directly to the car's navigation system or reply to phone messages via the vehicle interface.

vivo is also rolling out a digital car key, allowing users to unlock a vehicle simply by approaching with their phone and lock it when walking away. Additional controls can be triggered from the phone's interface for both near-field and remote access.

The digital key already supports a diverse lineup of automakers including XPENG, BYD, BMW, Changan, Zeekr, Li Auto, MINI, smart, Tesla, and NIO.

In August, vivo confirmed that the feature had been adapted for SAIC's MG brand, starting with the MG4 and with further models expected as the rollout expands.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
