Shanghai (Gasgoo)- ModuTech, Chinese provider of robotic tactile and flexible sensors, has secured a multi-million-yuan Pre-A round from Lime Capital, according to a post via ModuTech's WeChat account on September 17.

The funding will allow the company to expand production capacity, broaden its footprint in robotics, smart cars, new energy, consumer electronics, and healthcare, while also advancing work on high-precision multimodal sensing materials and algorithms.

This investment comes just months after ModuTech closed a similarly sized angel round in early July, led by Denning Capital, with Basin Capital serving as a long-term advisor.

Founded in late 2024, ModuTech was established by researchers and executives from Xiamen University, the University of Hong Kong, and leading technology firms. The team brings more than a decade of experience in tactile sensor research and mass production. With laboratories in both Shenzhen and Xiamen, China, the company has built full-stack R&D capabilities covering materials, processes, hardware, embedded circuits, software, algorithms, and system calibration.

ModuTech's strategy centers on combining material innovation with algorithmic intelligence to create tactile sensing solutions for a wide range of applications. Its portfolio includes embodied-intelligence tactile modules, industrial pressure-mapping systems, fully flexible electronic skin, highly sensitive temperature–pressure sensors, fabric-based sensors, and consumer-grade devices. Through these products, ModuTech aims to bring multimodal tactile perception into both industrial and household intelligent systems.

At the core is a proprietary multimodal sensing technology developed by ModuTech that can simultaneously capture signals such as pressure, temperature, material texture, and deformation with high accuracy — effectively equipping machines with "bionic skin".

Several of ModuTech's products have already transitioned from lab development to commercial use, driving tangible changes in multiple industries.

In manufacturing, ModuTech's pressure distribution system has been deployed in battery module assembly and precision mold testing, with leading smart manufacturers among its clients. In robotics, ModuTech collaborates with developers of robotic arms and dexterous hands, to supply tactile modules that significantly improve gripping and operational accuracy. In the automotive sector, the company is working with major supply-chain partners on fabric-array flexible sensors for intelligent seat adjustment systems. Meanwhile, in the consumer market, ModuTech provides comfort-assessment solutions for AR/VR headsets and smartwatches, and offers new interactive sensing technologies for AI toys, fitness equipment, and other smart electronics.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
