GWM’s Haval Big Dog PLUS hits market, starting at 109,800 yuan

Great Wall Motor released the Haval Big Dog PLUS onto the market, introducing five trims priced between 135,800 yuan and 183,800 yuan.

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On September 15, Great Wall Motor (GWM) released the Haval Big Dog PLUS onto the market, introducing five trims priced between 135,800 yuan and 183,800 yuan, with a limited-time trade-in offer starting at 109,800 yuan.

As a facelift of the second-generation Haval Big Dog, the new model is marketed as a family-oriented all-terrain mid-size SUV.

In terms of design, the Big Dog PLUS adopts Haval's "armor power aesthetics," featuring an illuminated HAVAL lettering badge on the grille, sharp creases along the sides to emphasize a mecha-inspired look, traditional door handles, and 19-inch wheels across the lineup with riveted fender flares. At the rear, a GWM badge enhances brand recognition.

The interior makes extensive use of soft-touch materials on high-contact surfaces, with two color schemes—Cloud Brocade Beige and Ebony Black—creating a warm and comfortable atmosphere. The cabin retains 20 piano-finish physical buttons, with frequently used controls such as air conditioning and defogging laid out independently for intuitive operation.

For ADAS, the Big Dog PLUS comes equipped with an Level 2 advanced driver assistance system offering 11 functions, including lane keeping, blind spot monitoring, driver fatigue alert, traffic sign recognition (TSR), rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA), and autonomous emergency braking pedestrian (AEB-P). Hardware includes 12 ultrasonic radars and four surround-view cameras to ensure accuracy. The SUV also supports advanced features such as fusion parking assist, remote parking, reversing memory, in-car ETC, and a 360-degree dashcam.

Powertrain options include both hybrid and gasoline variants. The gasoline version offers a 1.5T engine delivering 135 kW paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission, and a 2.0T engine delivering 175 kW paired with a 9-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.

The PHEV version features GWM's Hi4 intelligent four-wheel-drive hybrid system, combining a 1.5T PHEV-dedicated engine with dual motors on the front and rear axles. It produces a maximum output of 268 kW and peak torque of 750 Nm, mated to a 2-speed DHT hybrid transmission. The model features a battery-powered CLTC range of 105 km or 150 km, depending on trims.
