【SMM Steel】Saudi Arabia’s state-owned Water Transmission and Technologies Company (WTCO) is fast-tracking two major Independent Water Transmission System (IWTS) tenders to boost desalinated water supply and inland delivery. The Ras Mohaisen-Baha-Makkah project, with a capacity of 542,000 m³/day, includes 325 km of pipelines, four pumping stations, and water storage facilities connecting the Ras Mohaisen desalination plant to Baha and Makkah. The Jubail-Buraidah II project, designed for 840,000 m³/day, will build 348 km of pipelines and a main pumping station to secure water supply for the Al-Qassim region. Spanning nearly 700 km in total, these projects are expected to consume large volumes of spiral-welded pipes, structural sections, and rebar, providing a significant and stable boost to domestic steel demand.
