【SMM Steel】Kametstal steel plant is strengthening its market position with rising demand for continuously cast billets produced using stop casting technology. Through systematic measures and equipment modernization, the plant has significantly increased its output of high-quality products. On continuous casting machine No. 1 (CCM No. 1), monthly billet production has reached 15,000 tons—double last year’s level.
In the first eight months of 2025, CCM No. 1 produced 58,430 tons of billets, already exceeding 2024’s full-year total by over 5,000 tons. July set a new record at 16,160 tons, compared to last year’s peak of 8,260 tons.
Key drivers behind this growth include improvements to the Autostart mode, now achieving a success rate above 90%, modernization of MBLZ No. 1, and an increase in average melts during stop casting. Kametstal has also begun producing 100 mm diameter grinding balls with enhanced hardness, expanding its product range for industrial customers.
