Elmya Energy and Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure have established a joint venture named Elmantic, focused on developing 4 gigawatts of large-scale renewable energy projects across the United States.

Elmya Energy USA will collaborate with Atlantica's North American division to manage development efforts for the new entity. The venture draws on both companies’ experience in project development, infrastructure investment, and operations.

Atlantica specializes in developing, constructing, and operating renewable energy, storage, efficient natural gas, and transmission infrastructure in North and South America as well as Europe.

Elmya CEO Carlos Piñar noted that the U.S. represents a major and rapidly evolving energy market. The formation of Elmantic aligns with a period of expansion in the domestic power sector and reflects the growing importance of renewable energy in the national economy.

Initial project development will center on greenfield wind, solar, and storage facilities within the ERCOT and WECC regions.

Elmya Energy USA, which maintains offices in Richmond, Virginia and Austin, Texas, intends to expand its team in 2025 in support of the joint venture.

Colin Mott, Elmya’s Managing Director for North America, emphasized that community and landowner collaboration will be a priority in developing new energy infrastructure.

[SMM PV Flash] The proportion of wind and solar PV installations in Shandong Province has exceeded 50%!
On June 30, 2026, with the commissioning of the Huaneng Dezhou Xiaomiaozhuang 30 MW wind power project, the total installed capacity of wind and PV power in Shandong reached 130.56 million kW, and its share of the province’s total installed electricity capacity exceeded 50% for the first time in history, reaching 50.18%. This meant that wind and solar power, as new energy sources, officially became the mainstay of Shandong’s installed electricity capacity. Even more encouraging, if biomass and other new energy sources were included, Shandong’s installed new energy capacity had reached 135.51 million kW by the end of June, accounting for 52.09%; adding nuclear and hydropower, the province’s non-fossil energy installed capacity reached 145.3 million kW, with a share as high as 55.85%.

[SMM PV News] German Startup Launches Passive Exoskeleton Device for PV Installers
German technology enterprise Htrius has launched a passive exoskeleton designed to reduce the physical strain on workers during the installation and maintenance of PV systems, solar thermal installations, and other energy infrastructure. Named BionicBack, this exoskeleton is primarily used to relieve the physical exertion caused by repeated bending and lifting, and is suitable for tasks such as PV module and mounting installation, cable laying, inverter assembly, and material handling at construction sites and warehouses. When workers perform bending tasks or frequently bend to lift items, the device provides mechanical support to the lower back. According to the enterprise, it can follow the body's movements without restricting limb mobility. As a passive exoskeleton, BionicBack requires no cells or external power supply. The device is lightweight, easy to put on, and can be flexibly adjusted for different users and work scenarios.
