Beijing (Gasgoo)- JD Auto, the automotive service arm of Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com, and ZF Aftermarket (China) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to deepen their strategic partnership, according to ZF Aftermarket's WeChat announcement on Sept. 15.

The new MoU builds on their initial collaboration launched in 2023 in the passenger car aftermarket. The expanded cooperation will focus on improving efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing transparency in the commercial vehicle service sector.

The partnership will center on three key areas. First, the two sides will jointly create a benchmark for efficient maintenance and repair of commercial vehicles. JD Auto will provide online aftermarket product solutions for trucks and trailers, while ZF will leverage its ZF [pro]Service network to deliver inspection and repair services covering oil-fueled vehicles, new energy vehicles, and remanufactured parts, helping optimize lifecycle costs and maximize vehicle uptime.

Second, the companies will integrate AI and digital tools to enhance coordination between regional services and JD Auto's supply chain, building a closed-loop system for vehicles, drivers, cargo, and warehouses. They will also strengthen consumer engagement through digital channels, covering customer service, membership, and community operations, to create a unified data-driven ecosystem.

Third, ZF Aftermarket will gradually expand its support for JD Auto's new energy commercial vehicle maintenance and parts remanufacturing business. The two will launch joint initiatives such as exclusive service hotlines, rapid on-site response guarantees, and remote technical support through JD's smart cloud service platform.

Future plans include establishing a joint lab for digitalization and new energy vehicle maintenance, integrating predictive maintenance algorithms, and enhancing parts supply chain efficiency.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
