Shanghai (Gasgoo)- EHang, a Chinese urban air mobility (UAM) technology company, recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Kazakhstan's Group of Companies Allur JSC ("Allur Group"), according to news EHang issued on September 15 via WeChat account.

The agreement lays the groundwork for comprehensive collaboration across multiple areas, including UAM ecosystem development, large-scale aircraft deployment, commercial operations, localized industrialization, and the formulation of industry standards. Both sides aim to accelerate the growth of the low-altitude economy in Kazakhstan and the wider Central Asian region.

Under the MoU, the two companies will advance the procurement of EHang's EH216 series and work toward securing type certification for the EH216-S in Kazakhstan.

Allur plans to purchase 50 EH216 eVTOL aircraft in phases. The first batch includes 10 EH216-S passenger-carrying models and 10 EH216-L logistics models, which will be integrated into Kazakhstan's planned UAM operations hub—the first of its kind in Central Asia. The center will support routine flight operations, personnel training for operators and engineers, and certification testing, building the foundation of data and expertise needed for large-scale commercial rollout.

The partnership will focus on applications such as passenger-carrying transport, cargo delivery, and emergency response. Leveraging EHang's advanced eVTOL technologies and global project experience, the two companies aim to accelerate the adoption and expansion of low-altitude aviation solutions across Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

In addition, the partners are considering the creation of a local assembly facility with an annual capacity of 200 eVTOLs. If realized, it would be the first eVTOL production base in Central Asia, supplying aircraft to Kazakhstan and neighboring countries. EHang also plans to help attract suppliers of key components such as electric motors, batteries, and aerospace materials, supporting Kazakhstan in building out a full UAM industry value chain.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
