Hydro first introduced its Hydro CIRCAL brand product in 2019, which contains a minimum of 75% post-consumer scrap. Since then, CIRCAL material in the form of extrusion ingots has been widely used in the production of various industrial extrusions, particularly serving the construction sector. Today, Hydro is extending the CIRCAL product line into the field of casting alloys, specifically providing solutions for key automotive components such as wheel hubs, battery enclosures, structural parts, and engine components. According to Hydro, multiple customers, especially automotive manufacturers, have expressed strong interest in CIRCAL in the form of casting alloys. This stems from increasingly stringent decarbonization goals—improving material utilization rates is regarded as a core driver for reducing embedded emissions in critical components.
