ExxonMobil to Buy Kentucky Battery Plant, Boost Energy Storage Venture

[ExxonMobil Acquires Kentucky Battery Plant to Expand Energy Storage] ExxonMobil Petroleum (XOM.N) will acquire a battery materials plant in southern Kentucky, as the oil giant further expands into the growing energy storage market. Dave Andrews, Vice President of New Market Development at the company, stated that the manufacturing facility in Hopkinsville, located about an hour's drive north of Nashville, is one of several assets ExxonMobil is acquiring from Chicago-based Superior Graphite. The company plans to begin commercial-scale production of synthetic graphite at the plant in 2029.
