Low-carbon steel developer Stegra has confirmed that its green steel project in Boden, northern Sweden, remains on track to commence operations in H2 2026, despite delays in state aid. The first phase of the project is currently under construction, which includes two electric arc furnaces, a 690 MW electrolysis unit, a direct reduction plant, and rolling facilities, with a designed annual production capacity of 2.5 million mt. The second phase could expand the capacity to 5 million mt per year.
