[SMM New Energy News Flash] Nantong has announced a major RMB 500 million project led by Jiangsu Awesome Technology for vehicle dismantling and lithium battery recycling, marking a key step in building a closed-loop new energy vehicle industry chain. The project will recycle scrapped cars and retired lithium batteries using advanced processes to recover cathode/anode powders and metals, supplying upstream battery makers. With capacity to process 20,000 vehicles and 30,000 tons of batteries annually, it aims for over RMB 1 billion in sales. Jointly built by three strong enterprises with expertise in power engineering, electrical equipment, and metallurgical recycling, the project not only addresses resource shortages and environmental pressure but also supports China’s “dual carbon” strategy. It is expected to become a model in the Yangtze River Delta for green, circular economic development.
