Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On September 9 at the 2025 IAA MOBILITY show in Munich, Thundersoft and Geely Auto Group unveiled a jointly developed in-car computing solution called AIBOX, powered by NVIDIA technology, according to a post on Thundersoft's WeChat account.

Built on Thundersoft's AIOS and the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX platform, the system is the first to demonstrate smooth, real-time operation of a 7-billion parameter AI large model directly inside a production vehicle. The debut marks a milestone for the auto industry, signaling the arrival of mass production for AI-driven smart cockpits.

The launch comes at a pivotal moment as the global auto industry accelerates toward intelligent mobility. Scaling large AI models into vehicles is driving rapid evolution toward multi-agent smart cockpits, but limited on-board computing power has been a critical bottleneck. Addressing this, Thundersoft, Geely, and NVIDIA developed AIBOX as a plug-and-play, full-stack AI solution that allows automakers to integrate large models at lower cost and higher efficiency, paving the way for broader adoption of intelligent vehicles.

AIBOX is positioned as a new pathway for scaling AI models into vehicles, combining software–hardware synergy with cross-domain integration.

It incorporates Thundersoft's AIOS alongside NVIDIA's DriveOS, enabling fine-grained resource allocation, model scheduling, and adaptive scene management with millisecond-level multimodal response.

The system supports a matrix of AI "agents" for functions such as driver interaction, proactive recommendations, enhanced security, parking memory, and graphical user interface control.

Built on the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX platform, it adapts seamlessly across entry-level to premium vehicle trims without altering existing EE architectures.

Its hardware design accommodates both air and liquid cooling to ensure reliability under varying driving conditions, while standardized open protocols allow integration with cockpit domains for data fusion and feature expansion.

At the launch, Thundersoft co-founder and executive president Geng Zengqiang emphasized that competition in the intelligent vehicle sector ultimately hinges on AI computing power and the ability to implement it in real-world scenarios. He noted that AIBOX tackles the cockpit compute bottleneck through its integrated hardware–software approach, giving automakers an AI solution that balances cost and performance. The collaboration with Geely and NVIDIA, he added, not only combines technologies but also establishes a standardized pathway for bringing large AI models into vehicles globally—helping the industry accelerate its transition into the intelligent era.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
