Beijing (Gasgoo)- On Sept. 8, GAC Group (GAC) showcased five of its new energy vehicle models at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, where it shared European market updates and announced the official market launch of the AION V battery-electric SUV in the region. The model, GAC's first global strategic vehicle, will begin deliveries this month in Poland, Portugal, and Finland.

The AION V is a long-range smart electric SUV with a WLTP range of 510 km. It supports fast charging from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes. Its intelligent cockpit and advanced driver-assistance features enhance user convenience, while a 2,775-mm wheelbase and ergonomic seating deliver spacious comfort for both daily and long-distance journeys.

To reassure European customers, GAC announced it will provide an eight-year/160,000-km vehicle warranty and an eight-year/200,000-km battery warranty. The company has also partnered with Allianz Partners to offer three years of free, Pan-European roadside assistance, including software support tailored for electric vehicles.

In addition to the AION V, GAC also presented the AION UT at the event, a lifestyle-oriented electric vehicle designed for global markets and slated for European market launch in 2026.

Over the past year, GAC has accelerated its European expansion, with sales operations starting in Poland, Portugal, and Finland in September and a plan to cover the entire region in 2028. The automaker is also advancing energy replenishment networks, with longer-term plans to localize production and establish R&D centers in a bid to underpin its European expansion.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
