According to data released by the General Administration of Customs on September 8, China's steel exports in August 2025 totaled 9.51 million mt, down 326,000 mt MoM, a decrease of 3.3% MoM. From January to August, cumulative steel exports reached 77.49 million mt, up 10.0% YoY. In August, China imported 500,000 mt of steel, an increase of 48,000 mt MoM, up 10.6% MoM. From January to August, cumulative steel imports stood at 3.977 million mt, down 14.1% YoY. China's imports of iron ore and concentrates in August amounted to 105.225 million mt, up 602,000 mt MoM, an increase of 0.6% MoM. From January to August, cumulative imports of iron ore and concentrates reached 801.618 million mt, down 1.6% YoY. In August, China imported 42.737 million mt of coal and lignite, an increase of 7.128 million mt MoM, up 20.0% MoM. From January to August, cumulative imports of coal and lignite totaled 299.937 million mt, down 12.2% YoY.
