Qualcomm (QCOM.O) CEO Cristiano Amon stated that Intel's (INTC.O) current production technology has not yet met the supplier standards for smartphone processor manufacturers. During the program, Amon mentioned that if Intel could enhance its manufacturing processes to produce more energy-efficient chips, Qualcomm would consider collaborating with them. "Intel is not currently our choice," Amon admitted, "but we hope to include them in our options in the future." The CEO noted that Qualcomm would continue its partnerships with existing foundries TSMC and Samsung Electronics. As a chip design company, Qualcomm, like most firms in the industry, adopts an outsourced production model. Meanwhile, Intel, once the world's largest chip manufacturer, is striving to reverse its decline by attracting external clients such as Qualcomm while maintaining its in-house chip manufacturing business.
