Trump Narrows Fed Chair Candidates, Backs Hassett

[SMM US Fed Personnel Change Expectation Flash] Trump revealed to multiple reporters in the White House Presidential Office that the list of candidates for Fed Chairman has been narrowed down to three or four individuals, among whom Hassett, the current Director of the White House National Economic Council (NEC), is included. Trump explicitly stated his support for Hassett to succeed Powell as the new Fed Chairman. This marks the first time Trump has directly expressed his preference for the next Fed Chairman candidate, and also the first instance in recent months where he has specifically named a candidate amid widespread speculation about Powell's "successor."
