SMM Flash News: Tianjin Downstream Impacted by Restrictions, Zinc Prices Drop Sparking Limited Buying Interest

Published: Sep 5, 2025 19:19
[SMM Flash News] At the beginning of the week, downstream enterprises in Tianjin were affected by vehicle restrictions and production restrictions, leading to production cuts or holiday shutdowns, resulting in a relatively quiet Tianjin market. By the weekend, zinc prices plunged to levels more acceptable to downstream buyers. However, as most of the previously priced zinc ingots had not been delivered, some downstream buyers took advantage of the low prices to place orders, though overall procurement sentiment remained subdued. This week marked the contract rollover, with traders generally raising premiums and discounts slightly for shipments. Premiums are expected to remain stable next week.
