Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD announced on Sept. 4 that it has been confirmed as the official partner of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) for the 2025 season, marking a high-profile collaboration that links the Caribbean's biggest sporting event with a global leader in clean energy and sustainable mobility.

For BYD, the partnership represents both a step forward in expanding its international footprint and a demonstration of how the company leverages innovation to drive global sustainability while engaging with diverse cultural communities.

Throughout the tournament, BYD's presence will be visible across stadiums, fan zones, and community activities, embedding the brand into the region's cricket culture. Stephen Hector, Group Deputy Managing Director, BYD Caribbean, noted that the CPL is a cultural cornerstone of the region and that cricket remains a unique force uniting Caribbean communities. He emphasized the special significance of the partnership, particularly as it provides BYD with its first major opportunity to showcase the brand to audiences in Guyana. Hector added that the collaboration allows BYD not only to support a culturally important sporting event but also to reinforce its global commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the future of mobility.

Jamie Stewart, Commercial Director of the Caribbean Premier League, highlighting the shared values of innovation, community building, and sustainability between the two organizations. He expressed confidence that as the excitement of Caribbean cricket continues to capture fans worldwide, the partnership with BYD will help deliver an unforgettable 2025 season.

Beyond sports sponsorship, BYD continues to push forward its role in the global energy transition by offering integrated solutions spanning clean energy generation, storage, and application. In the Caribbean, the company already has operations across Antigua, Aruba, Bonaire, Barbados, Curaçao, Guyana, Jamaica, Suriname, and Trinidad, with plans to open a new showroom in Saint Lucia by the end of this year. These moves reflect BYD’s strategy to deepen local engagement while reinforcing its position as a key player in sustainable mobility worldwide.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
