Beijing (Gasgoo)-On September 3, UBTECH ROBOTICS CORP LTD ("UBTECH") , a Chinese humanoid robots company, announced it had signed a contract worth 250 million yuan with a leading domestic enterprise for its intelligent humanoid robot products and solutions. The contract centers on the UBTECH's Walker S2 humanoid robot, with deliveries scheduled to begin within this year.
The Walker S2, unveiled in July, is UBTECH's next-generation industrial humanoid robot. It features a hot-swappable autonomous battery replacement system that enables continuous 24/7 operation, reduces maintenance costs, and enhances overall production efficiency.
The system employs real-time power monitoring and dynamic energy balancing, allowing dual batteries to charge and discharge simultaneously with seamless switching. Standardized battery modules and zero-gap compartment design make rapid replacement possible, while precision positioning and compliant control algorithms ensure accurate alignment. In practice, the robot can autonomously decide whether to recharge or swap batteries depending on task priorities.
Beyond the Walker S2, UBTECH has also introduced other humanoid robots across industrial, commercial, and education-research applications, including the full-scale research and education model Tiangong Xingzhe (in Chinese pinyin), the industrial-grade Walker S1, and the commercial Walker C. Since its launch on March 12, Tiangong Xingzhe has received more than 100 units of orders, and UBTECH expects deliveries in the education and research segment alone to exceed 300 units this year.
Standing 172 cm tall, Tiangong Xingzhe adopts a highly bionic torso structure and human-like motion control, and is powered by the general-purpose embodied intelligence platform "Hui Si Kai Wu", developed by the Beijing Innovation Center of Humanoid Robotics. The robot comes in basic, mid-range, and high-end configurations, with more than 60% of current orders for the mid-range and high-end models.
Overall, public data shows that UBTECH's Walker humanoid robot series has secured nearly 400 million yuan in contracts to date, including close to 50 million yuan fulfilled in the first half of this year. The company projects deliveries of 500 industrial humanoid robots in 2025, with annual production capacity expected to surpass 1,000 units.
