[SMM New Energy News Flash] Altilium and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) have showcased the UK’s first EV battery cells made with recycled cathode and anode materials at Cenex Expo 2025. The cells, produced using Altilium’s EcoCathode process, recover over 95% of critical metals like lithium, nickel, and cobalt from end-of-life EV batteries while ensuring high purity and performance. These recycled materials were successfully used to manufacture automotive-grade NMC 811 pouch cells that are undergoing full validation at JLR’s facilities. Supported by the UK’s Advanced Propulsion Centre, the project demonstrates that recycled materials can meet automotive standards, strengthen supply chains, and comply with EU battery regulations. Both Altilium and JLR highlight this as a breakthrough for sustainability, proving that EV performance and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.
