At the end of August, the Swedish Mining Authority approved Boliden AB’s mining concession application for its Laver deposit, granting rights to extract copper, gold, silver, and molybdenum. The company noted that the deposit has the potential to significantly strengthen Europe’s copper supply. As of year-end 2024, Laver’s measured and indicated resources stand at 733.6 million tonnes grading 0.14 g/t gold, 3.6 g/t silver, 0.24% copper, and 37 g/t molybdenum, up from 513.5 million tonnes reported in 2013. Boliden will now advance further exploration, technical studies, and environmental assessments. A final investment decision will require an environmental permit, including Natura 2000 approval.
