On August 31, 2025, Capstone Copper announced a temporary production interruption at its Mantoverde copper mine in Chile following the failure of both ball mill drive motors. The mine is expected to operate at roughly half capacity for about four weeks, reducing output by an estimated 3,000–4,000 tonnes of copper in concentrate. Maintenance originally planned for later in September will be rescheduled to overlap with the downtime in order to mitigate the impact.
